Jay Yew, M.D. graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He then attended SUNY Brooklyn School of Medicine, where he served as class president for 4 years. Dr. Yew completed his general surgery and urologic surgery training at the very busy Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles. He then secured a highly competetive urologic oncology fellowship at the City of Hope National Medical Center, an NCCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Care Center. The City of Hope Cancer Center is also the leading high-volume center in the world for robotic laparoscopic surgery for urologic cancers. Dr. Yew then moved to San Diego and joined Sharp Rees-Stealy Urology and Sharp Memorial Hospital to help propel their robotic laparoscopic surgery program forward.
Dr, Yew's practice encompasses all aspects general urology with an emphasis
on oncology and minimally-invasive techniques. He is an active member of the
American Urological Association, The Endourologic Society,
and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Yew is a high-volume leader
in robotic urologic surgery in the San
Diego community. He has been involved in over 450 Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic
Prostatectomies (aka DVP) during the past 2 years.

He also travels and teaches extensively as an official Da Vinci robotic surgery instructor (proctor) for Intuitive Surgical.
