Jay Yew, M.D. graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He then attended SUNY Brooklyn School of Medicine, where he served as class
president for 4 years. Dr. Yew completed his general surgery and urologic surgery
training at the very busy Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles.
He then secured a highly competetive urologic oncology fellowship at the City
of Hope National Medical Center, an NCCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Care
Center. The City of Hope Cancer Center is also the leading high-volume center
in the world for robotic laparoscopic surgery for urologic cancers. Dr. Yew
then moved to San Diego and joined Sharp Rees-Stealy Urology and Sharp Memorial
Hospital to help propel their robotic laparoscopic surgery program forward.
Dr, Yew's practice encompasses all aspects general urology with an emphasis
on oncology and minimally-invasive techniques. He is an active member of the
American Urological Association, The Endourologic Society,
and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Yew is a high-volume leader
in robotic urologic surgery in the San
Diego community. He has been involved in over 450 Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic
Prostatectomies (aka DVP) during the past 2 years.

Furthermore, Dr. Yew has recently authored 2 textbook chapters and videos on
Robotic Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer, and Robotic Renal Surgery for Cancer
to be published in early 2007. He also travels and teaches extensively as an
official Da Vinci robotic surgery instructor (proctor) for Intuitive Surgical.
